Abhyanga Body Massage Course

Ayurvedic medicine is a system of traditional medicine native to the Indian subcontinent and a form of alternative medicine. Translated from Sanskrit, ayu mean life and veda mean knowledge or science. Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda was first mention in the verses of reg veda, the first of hindu sacred texts. Here there is reference to Panca mahabutha which are the five elements to perform the human body and the three doshas or primary force of prana or vata (air), agni or pitta (fire) and soma or kapha (water and earth) as comprising the basic principal of ayurveda.

Abhyanga (sanskrit Oil Massage") is a form of ayurvedic medicine that involves massage of the body with large amounts of warm oil. The oil is often pre-medicated with herbs for specific conditions. Abhyanga can be done as part of the steps of pancka karma therapy, especially in the first stage: Purva Karma (pre-treatment), or as its own therapy. It is often followed by svedana therapy, a warm bath, yoga or laying out in the sun. Learn how to massage the body by using ayurvedic oil based on your body type, vata, pitta and kapha.
